There are some developmental signs showing your baby is ready to take solids. The following signs will give you a guide to when the time is right to begin weaning:
Weaning at 6 months:
First Foods - Suitable foods are pureed fruit and vegetables (eg banana and carrot), meat, peas and beans, gluten free cereals (eg baby rice). Suitable drinks are breastmilk, formula milk, or cooled boiled water.
Next try bread, pasta and cereals, pasteurised cheese, yogurt and fromage frais. For drinking, continue to give baby breast or formula milk and cooled boiled water. They may also get some well-diluted, unsweetened, pure fruit juice, but only at mealtimes.
